Spring in San Antonio

This is my favorite time of year in San Antonio.  We all know the hot summer is right around the corner, so we all try and spend as much time as we can outside. Here are my top things to do if you happen to be in San Antonio this spring!

  • The Zoo: Get ready to walk because it covers over 56 acres! Be sure to ride the merry-go-round right across the street in Breckenridge Park.
  • The Riverwalk: This is definitely the most touristy part of San Antonio, but it is beautiful. The Riverwalk is lined with shops, bars, hotels, and great restaurants. My favorite place to eat on the river is Casa Rio. It has yummy Mexican food under bright, colorful umbrellas!

  • Missions Baseball: One of my favorite parts of spring is Baseball season. San Antonio is home to the Missions, a minor league. The games are so fun, and depending on the night of the week, they have different deals!

  • Fiesta: This week marks the beginning of Fiesta! It is a week long celebration remembering the battle of the Alamo. Fiesta literally means party and it is one long party full of parades, coronations, balls, and carnivals. My favorite event is the River Parade. We line the paths along the river walk and watch the floats come down the river.

  •  Floores Country Store: This restaurant dance hall has been around for 70 years! It is a great place to sit outside and listen to live music. Musicians from willie Nelson to Elvis Presley to Randy Rogers have played at Floores. On Sunday nights, they have family night with free dancing!

  • The Market Square: This is a place to walk around and listen to mariachi music, shop for Mexican imports, and eat some great street food.  Mie Tierra or la Margarita are both very popular restaurants with great ambiance.
